Queen Birthday weeekend

We had one medical incident which was handled with care and efficiency by our big tall Dutchman Dan, Mikey, Dr Bill and Phillip. It was not serious just a lack of food, lack of sleep and low blood pressure but when the ambulance officer arrived she remarked “It’s been 20 years since I’ve seen one of those!” “What? A guy from Holland?” “No!!!” she replied, ‘a cock!!” That’s right; we had a lesbian intruding on our naked secret men’s business!! Raymond took care of the music, Reymon and Shaun did the bar, serving a delicious winter schnapps to warm the inner self and had brought along David from Dubbo who was great taping all the towels to the stairs. Our thanks to Chris S for his great invitation card and the guys stuffed envelopes, Warren, Jim , David P, Paul, Raymond, David S and John M, Dominic for the data base and the SMS notifications, to Phillip who picked up the heating cannon and took it back and also the towels. He also washed all the gear took it back to the lock up. Tony F set up with Raymond, Jozef, David P, Jim K, Kim, John, David Y and Ollie, Kenny A, John and Philippe and Richard B. Philippe also did the shopping. David P and Jim K, you guys were fantastic not only setting up but also managing the front desk with Scott and Dominic. Staying back to pick up were Jake, David M, Bill and Richard, who took down the tarp, Tony N, Shane and Paul W.

Database

We usually get requests after a party for phone numbers of hunks, studs and gorgeous men guys have played with but who carelessly left before getting their details. We guys on the data base respect and expect that the list remain absolutely confidential. So we never give out names and phone numbers. However we get requests for this sort of thing after every party and never wanting to stand in the path of true love, what we do is try to identify the guy and send him YOUR number then he has the choice of whether he wants to contact you or not. Fair enough.

The Donation

There has been some discussion lately about the donation; it is and has always been a genuine contribution to the running of MEN, both for renting premises when we need to, administrative costs of printing and postage, internet and now SMS costs. The guys who help out at the parties behind the bar and at the desk, or help set up and pack up all give freely of their time yet still make their contribution. We thank those who regularly pay more than is suggested and respect those who are not in a position to contribute much yet give what they can afford.

There is also the legal issue as we keep ourselves scrupulously legal at all times. We cannot charge a fee for entrance and we cannot sell alcohol nor offer it to anyone under 18.

Personal hygiene

All the MEN parties have washing facilities and showers. With all the contact we have at MEN parties it is always appreciated that guys come hygienically prepared for what they intend to get up to, so before coming  please … cleanliness always.

Three or More (TOMS) study

As you may be aware ACON in partnership with the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research, recently conducted the TOM Study (Three or More Study). The TOMS survey of men who've had group sex has been very successful and the findings will be very helpful, but they still need some volunteers to be interviewed in person. These extra interviews are strictly confidential and last about 90 minutes. They will help them with more detailed information to fill out the survey figures.

They need both HIV positive and HIV negative guys, of all ages. Interviews with guys who always use condoms and with guys who sometimes don't use condoms, for whatever reason are equally important. These interviews are an opportunity to learn about the reasons some guys enjoy group sex and some guys' negative experiences, and to learn about how guys think about the kinds of sex they want, and what precautions they take, during group sex.

Lost Proptery

We get amusing items of lost property at parties; a mobile phone, an expensive pair of sunglasses (in June??) even an occasional uncollected bag (I wonder how he got home without his clothes??). Email us if you think we have something of yours.
