party:
Mardi Gras / ToyBox Recovery
When: Sunday, March 4th, 2007
Where: will
either be on your email or newsletter.
you still need the address (pop-ups required).
Time:
5:30 pm doors close 7:00 pm
(doors will re-open at 8.30 pm till 9.30 pm for
Toybox party men)
Donation
at door ($25 as a guide / extra is welcome)
What makes this party special is the magic and variety of the backgrounds
of the men after a week of excess. Sydney guys, interstate visitors and internationals
merge together as at no other time of year. The doors will
re-open for an hour at 8.30
p.m. to admit the guys coming from Toybox. The
show will not be at changeover but will come on after Toybox
guys arrive. The guys who will unselfishly get back into
their jeans to sign you in are angels. For safety at the
venue we will leave our boots on.
To
make it as successful as previous parties the Kirk needs to be filled so
you have extra cards in your envelope to distribute to your hot yet warm friends,
as last year we had many emails during the last week for extra cards. We
will try and answer them all but last year it was impossible as we work and party
too during Mardi Gras week. If we can’t get back to you then simple
accompany them as your guest and sign them in with you.

Direct bus from Luna Park Toybox
We thank Duncan and Andy from Toybox for organising one of their buses
to come directly to the venue. We
will have some marshals at Luna Park to
get you on to the right bus When
it is full and departs, you also have the usual shuttle buses
which will bring you back from Luna Park to Oxford St, so you should have plenty of
time to wander
the extra distance to Cleveland
St.

TWO
MEN parties over Mardi Gras weekend RezErection 8 - Update
The March 4 party is preceded by the
RezErection Underwear Party on Thursday March 1 at
ARQ which was announced in the January newsletter. The party appears to be the talk of the
town if the emails asking for invitations are anything to go
by. Sales are going well and many of
you are apparently taking up Gold’s Gym offer of two
weeks free membership to get ready. We don’t want to
disappoint anyone as nothing is worse than when we see our friends
in the street in a queue hoping to get in, and all we can do
is shrug our shoulders. So if you really wanna be there I guess
you really will get there, so just as a friendly warning, do
not wait until the afternoon of March 1 to get your tickets. If there is room we will have door sales
on the night on a one-out-one-in basis but you must
have your invitation card or printed MEN email with you as
ARQ is strictly booked as a private party.

Donation
For the first time since 1998 we have to ask a little extra for parties
at this venue. The level of production and rent is pushing
us to the limit as we need to more than break even at these
parties as they are getting too expensive to run. Remember
MEN is still a community and is not a commercial venture.

Fancy
a Quickie?
The Qualitative Interviews
Concerning Key Issues and Experiences (QUICKIE) project, organised
by the National Centre in HIV Social Research (NCHSR) at the
University of New South Wales (UNSW), is a new avenue for gay
men to talk about what is going on in their lives. Taking part
involves a confidential, one-on-one interview at a time and
place of your convenience.
They are interested
in emerging issues in Sydney gay men’s experiences of aspects of
life such as relationships, socialising , community, the internet,
sex, drugs, partying, ‘the scene’, sexual health
and others.
Due to a desire to balance
the age and serow status of our interviewees we are currently
looking for sexually active negative or untested gay men aged
18 to 35 who live in inner or central Sydney.
If you are interested in
participating or want to find out more please contact Diana
Bernard on 9385 7164 or The
website is http://nchsr.arts.unsw.edu.au/research%20projects/quickie.html
