Last year at this time we almost called the party off as the rain was pissing down, a gale was blowing and it was so bitterly cold that we thought even the M.E.N guys were not going to come out on such a night. Yet they did and in their usual numbers. Admittedly the action was best in the huddle around the heating canon but the weather gave guys an incentive to hang around longer and the party lasted later than normal. Fortunately there was no work the next day due to the long weekend.

This is the last party of the season as Sydney virtually shuts down between now and Sleaze, so we take a winter break. We thank Will and Colin for the use of their house and giving us plenty of time to party then kick on at Indulgence or Homesexual afterwards. It is a house party so boots off so we don’t damage the place (socks or thongs are OK) and whilst it is unlikely that we will fill up we post our usual warning that if we do happen to reach capacity we will need to close the doors before 7pm

Inquisition XV Recovery

Our largest Inquisition Recovery ever – whether it was Chris Smyth’s sexy invitation card or Dominic’s SMS reminder, it packed ‘em in. The Inquisition party always has a different look, many sporting leather accessories to get a message across, some commenting that it was their favorite party of the year. The sling was never empty all night. James punctuated the evening when he leapt to the pole on the stage and did what pole dancers do. Whilst the leather cod piece was needed to protect himself (a bit like cricket I guess), when he saw the swarm of naked men in front of him he said fuck it and threw it aside. Our Mikey was there and was warmly applauded at pantsdown time for producing a very successful Inquisition party. Mail out was done by Raymond and Kell, Xerxes, Tony N, Jim and David, John M, Glenn H. David P manned the register with Calvin and Dominic, our superb data base manager getting guys in as quickly as they could. Phillip arranged the heating and took the towels to the laundromat.

Josef, the two Davids checked in the bags with William who, looking more like a fortune teller than a sex pig, set himself up in his own small candle-lit alcove entertaining Ian from London, David from Liverpool with George and Jos did the shopping and wheeled it across the road for Reymon to take charge of the bar. Peter and Chi-Kan set up the scaffolding for the sling. Raymond looked after the music. David Heaps not only came early to set up but took on the supervision of the clean up and with Stephen M made sure everything was picked up and packed away ready for Ben and Mike and Phillip to come in the next day to make the place spick and span.

Hot yet Warm– Ollie & Matt

We have two of our M.E.N featured this party. On the newsletter Ollie is one of our faithful and reliable volunteers who helps out doing whatever is needed, whenever he can. We appreciate his help and his pics.

Chris Smyth has used Matt for the invitation, the sun setting on a wonderful season from last year’s Sleaze at the Kirk, our most successful RezErection ever, the hot Mardi Gras Recovery then Inquisition. Thanks for your pic Matt and to Rod for snapping it. Looking ahead, we really need some ideas for Sleaze and Mardi Gras venues. One of these pix helped Rod win People Choice Award from the Salt Clinic Mardi Gras Photo Exhibition.

SMS Experiment

Adding the SMS to the snail mail and email invitations was well received by those who talked about it at the party so we will keep it going for this one. If we do not have your mobile number then simply email us at men@sydneymen.org and we will add that detail to the data base. Email can be reliable for some yet difficult for others, We will maintain better contact through SMS

This party is not going to cost as much as a Kirk party does so we don’t ask for as much as a donation. Dunno how long we can hold it at this amount as we aim to break even over the year.

ACON

Tim, noting that you guys were especially helpful and willing, messaged his appreciation to all those who filled in the ACON survey regarding group sex. There are many surveys going around town and we pass most of them on to you but this one is especially worthy of our support because it is especially targeted to our scene and the many variations that have sprung up around Sydney both private and commercial. For ACON to design appropriate educational material they need to know the issues that are out there.
