always bounces back and the return of the traditional mid winter
weekend of excess is welcome with a big queer nation party

we will be warm with plenty of hot water! To get there you
go down Campbell St from Crown and it is the first on the right.

T-
E- N
The tenth anniversary has been and gone and we look ahead to
the next ten years. It is an achievement. The sling shed worked
well. The spa provided warmth on an autumn evening. We thank
Jason and Steve for the bar shopping (the guava juice and vanilla
Absolut was yum!) and for the set up Peter L and Albert, Jason
and Steve and Napoleon, Malcolm for his logistics support and
Kell for the use of his house.
Had
a number of questions from new comers asking what agency we
got the barmen from! Amazing how the world has changed in
that guys just do not believe that MEN runs on volunteers who
love to get their shirts off. We needed five for this party so
we thank Juan and Felipe, Tom, John DC, and Matt. Raymond was
in charge of the music. David Malone designed the invitation.
Shane and Mikey manned the desk, mail out was done by Phillip
and Mikey, Napoleon, David N, and Brian S and David M looked
after our bags. Staying back to help clean up and pack away were
Dave and Steve, Bill, Darren, Leif, Graham P, David H, Raymond
and Kell and also Phillip who took everything back to the lock
up.

Poster
Matthew
Huxtable has complied a 10th anniversary poster, a collage for
all the
invitation cards since time began. As a souvenir of
where we have been it is exceptional, it is so colourful it will
match any décor. A number of guys enquired about the poster
last party so we will run some off and make them available at this
party and also by mail order. Check how to get yours here soon.

Hot
yet Warm – José
Our
invitation card shows one of our own, Loren was caught with
Shane in a compromising pose earlier this year. José has
been coming to parties for ages since the days he used to
trek all the way from the south coast before he moved to
Sydney. Thanks for your pics guys.

Bay Holiday Acccommodation New Years
It
is time to think ahead. The MEN house worked well this year
with a parade of gorgeous men staying for a few days each.
The peak demand is New Year’s Day, when the MEN party
is scheduled. Accommodation includes three bedrooms. There
is floor space to crash if necessary. More details can be
made by here.

Finances – Where
your $20 goes
Your
donation begins when we enter, as we are offered a smart complimentary
cocktail or two from the bar. The grog bill varies, $700-$1,000
per party (depending on how lavish the cocktail and how big
the party). Then there is the ice (14-20 bags per party at
$3.50 per bag), As change over occurs, that plastic bag, the
printed numbered label and accompanying wrist band cost approx
50 cents. Soft drink, mineral water, plastic cups, paper towels,
toilet paper, soap, glow sticks, gloves, condoms and lube cost
$200 per party. Towels are washed, bleached, fluffed and
folded for approx $160. We pay for a professional cleaner
so our generous host's home is left spotless (anyone out there
wanting extra money and is anal about cleaning? Contact us!).
The printing of the newsletter ($150) and the invitations
($180) and the postage (last party we sent out 720 newsletters
plus envelopes and labels, although some have moved to email
invitations. The whole thing has to be administered so add
the web site expenses and telephone calls. Occasionally we
need
to hire a truck and heating cannon. To store the gear we rent
a 24 hour lock up for $150 per month. Any monies left over
go to replace capital items, tarps, mats, towels). So for an "orange
note" MEN enable us to enjoy a great nite out.

Barraba
John
Dearman has sold Port Macquarie and opened a guest house for
men, in a huge old historic home in Barraba - 80km north of
Tamworth, which is truly FABULOUS and well worth the 6 hour
drive from Sydney. There is 'THE SHED' - a shed in the back
is the play space. Rafters, bolts in the floor, chains, and
ropes, lighting and sound all combine – it also doubles
as a gym, very hot. Accommodation boasts open fires, wide verandas,
French doors, lead lights, high ceilings - fantastic for a
weekend of playing and relaxing. John is a fantastic cook and
host - bring all of your equipment and toys. Details @ www.sane.com.au
